Internationally acclaimed model, Karlie Kloss, shared a video of herself reminiscing on the time she was asked to cut her hair for Vogue, not considering her other modelling jobs.
In a video shared by Karlie on social media for her series, Modelling Stories by Karlie Kloss, the model recounted the moment she was asked to appear in a Vogue fashion shoot, which involved her having to cut off a significant chunk of her hair. She detailed the experience by stating that she was not sure about what style they wanted to do – but she trusted their vision and didn’t think of the aftermath. After the photoshoot, Karlie was left with an ear-length bob, which was a stark contrast to her long locks prior to the shoot.
She then went on to explain that a few days later, she was scheduled to walk in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show and had to explain her haircut without revealing what it was for – as ordered by Vogue’s Editor-In-Chief, Anna Wintour. Karlie was forced to wear hair extensions for the shoot, so that her new hairdo was hidden and she was able to keep it a secret until the photo was revealed by Vogue the following year.
Karlie stated, “For a model, when you get a haircut, it could either be the best thing that happens to your career or the worst… In the end, it all worked out. It didn’t end my career, in fact it probably fuelled it.”
