ASAP Rocky is known for many things, and now he wants to add nail art enthusiast to that list.
The Harlem, New York-native, 30, declared his fondness for artfully-decorated nails in an interview with style bible Vogue; perhaps stating the obvious after he’s been photographed rocking various colorful styles on his digits these past few weeks.
The rapper told the outlet that he wishes more men would unashamedly rock an artistic manicure.

‘I feel like men should be able to do nail art without feeling feminine,’ he said.
For his recent collaboration with Prada, Rocky said a ‘really, really good lady’ drew the Italian fashion brand’s logo and other references to their Fall/Winter 2019 collection on his nails.
Evidently, he’s kept up the habit.
Recent photos posted to his Instagram show the rapper with everything from tiny American flags and yellow smiley faces to flames and neon checkered designs painted on his nails.
Similarly, there have been references to his latest album etched on his nails too.
And while he’s had the words ‘Love’ on his nail bed, he’s also had the more aggressive, ‘F**k off’ on there.
(Followers of his recent legal drama will likely be aware that the star spangled banner and the ‘f**k off’ expletive came right after he was freed from jail and allowed to return to home turf after the assault trial despite being found guilty.)
At Rihanna’s fifth annual Diamond Ball in New York, ASAP was seen posing with his signature chunky rings and just one yellow painted nail.
This polarizing tendency hasn’t gone down that well on his Instagram, where some of his 11 million followers seemingly aren’t approving of the trend.
‘Can’t like it. I don’t even like a lot of jewelry on men,’ a female commentor said recently.
Guess the meaning? After his widely publicized return home from spending a month in a Swedish jail, ASAP Rocky, left, had the words ‘f**k off’ on his nails

‘Only homosexuals paint their nails. Rockers paint exclusively in black,’ one troll commented.
However, leading nail experts are all for it.
Sarah Gibson Tuttle, founder and CEO of Beverly Hills-based salon and nail polish brand Olive & June, said that his endorsement is a great act of self-expression that others can mimic.
‘We support self-expression for everyone – especially when it comes to nail art,’ she told DailyMail.com.
‘We have always offered a men’s service at the salon, and men who are into polish usually go for an edgy black or experimental color.
‘Nail art is like getting a tattoo without the commitment. One day you can cover your nails in stars, the next week you can get a snakeskin accent nail, or spell out what you want to say in lettering,’ she concluded.
‘I think it’s amazing that men are wearing nail art and nail polish,’ she said. ‘It’s a whole new crop of hands to paint!’
‘This may begin as a trend but stay as a solid form of self-care for men,’ she predicted.
ASAP Rocky’s public celebration of male manicures comes not long after nail polish brand OPI launched a MANi Up campaign to encourage guys to embrace the trend.
‘I’ve always said that color has the power to change your look – and your outlook,’ OPI co-founder and brand ambassador Suzi Weiss-Fischmann said.

‘While traditionally nail lacquer has been associated with female definitions of beauty, there’s no reason why nail color can’t be enjoyed by males as well. No longer are men’s skincare, haircare or other grooming products considered taboo – nails should be no different!
‘…We believe color is the answer – for everybody. Color can signify who we are and what we want to say to others. Color can impact how we feel, our moods and our motivations. Color is not just a female language, but a universal one!’
No matter what people think, ASAP Rocky likely doesn’t care. The entertainer has been something of a fashion innovator since he came on the scene in 2012.
The front row fixture at international fashion weeks has previously been called a ‘significant style star’ by Vogue. Not only does he regularly name check labels and brands in his lyrics, his fashion world credentials also include collaborations with Jeremy Scott, Raf Simons and Guess and stints modeling for Calvin Klein and Prada.
This week, he is gearing up to unveil a permanent retail home for AWGE, his creative collective.
A street wear focused menswear popup will be opened in London department store Selfridges, which will also reportedly feature men’s makeup concessions.
He told Vogue, ‘Making music is fun. It’s always fun. In a way, it’s a parallel with fashion because I think the right key, the right silhouette, the right look – the right expression – can trigger an emotional connection: sometimes a nostalgic connection and sometimes an enticing connection with people.’
