Fenty is in the running for a 2019 British Fashion Award in the category of Urban Luxe.
Less than a year old and Fenty is already into contention at Fashion Awards. Being part of the final five is already a win for Fenty because this means the brand made it to the Top 10 list and then got enough votes to own a place in the final five contenders. The nominees are decided by a global voting panel of 2,500 members of the fashion industry.
This is Rihanna’s first nod of approval in the fashion world for her solo brand, as opposed to through a collaborative with Puma. In 2017, Fenty Puma was nominated.
With Fenty still in its infancy, Rihanna is a happy momma. Unlike some who seemed to have qualms and criticisms over being nominated in this particular category out of all the categories up for grabs when the 2019 British Fashion Awards are held December 2, Rihanna was pleased as punch with her nomination.
On her instagram page @badgalriri, she shared the nominees in the Urban Luxe category in a short video clip and captioned the post:
‘I’m incredibly proud of everyone who’s been a part of the team and development of this brand! It’s been 5 months since we launched @FENTY, and we’re nominated for the Urban Luxe category of the 2019 #BritishFashionAwards. Thank you @britishfashioncouncil for acknowledging our hard work and respecting the quality of what we produce! This is such an incredible honor. 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿’
LEAFtv defines urban as style that is born of the street; while according to Vogue, the suffix -luxe is added to words and styles to elevate the mundane to make it fashion-worthy.
Going up the for the Urban luxe Award for 2019 are:
- Marine Serre
- Martine Rose
- Moncler Genius
In two days Rihanna’s post has amassed over one million likes on Instagram.
