Chances are, you’ve heard of Shark Week, the Discovery Channel’s insanely popular weeklong TV event, in which the network airs a bunch of shark-related content, including Shark After Dark and a personal favorite, The Daily Bite. For some people, the ocean is a terrifying place. For me, I’ve always been fascinated by it, especially the sharks that live inside of it (shout-out to my scuba-diving dad).
Not so scary, though? Shark-inspired manicures. To celebrate what some call the terrifying week, beauty lovers worldwide are creating nail art based on the TV phenomenon. Have no fear — these manis don’t bite. Whether you’re into blood and gore or much prefer a cute little baby shark moment, you’re sure to find nail art that’ll float your boat and inspire your next appointment.
Can’t get to a salon? Sit back while you binge-watch Shark Week and treat yourself to an at-home mani. We promise these aren’t as hard as they look. From the easiest-to-apply decals to some seriously aspirational nail art, you can rock this art any week — not just Shark Week.

Not too scary, right? According to the Discovery Channel, 73 million sharks are harmed each year in the shark fin-trade. For this year’s Shark Week, the network is partnering with Oceana, an agency that allows you to symbolically adopt a shark, and Ocean Conservancy, an advocacy group protecting our oceans. Discovery Channel hopes to educate views on the importance of protection our sharks and marine life all together through partnering with these groups.
That said, mind these majestic creators (and the rest of the ocean) in mind when you are watching Shark Week and planning your next manicure.
Shark Week begins on July 28 through August 4 on The Discovery Channel.
