When it comes to nail shapes, most folks tend to play it safe with traditional square, oval, or rounded styles — but in 2020, we might just see this shift. Prior to the new year, professional manicurist, Park Eunkyung, told Allure that she hopes to bring attention to more unique nail shapes moving forward, and she’s already making it happen with her latest work of art: a Mickey Mouse-inspired manicure that features glittery mouse ears in lieu of her normal nail tip.
The renowned nail artist took to Instagram on New Year’s Eve to show off her Disney-themed mani and explain her vision. “I’m ready. 🐭 2020. Changing my nail shape. I tried it just for fun,” reads the caption. This isn’t the first time that Eunkyung has experimented with offbeat nail shapes, though. Some might remember she was also the mastermind who tried out those epic lipstick-shaped nails last year, and she frequently plays around with coffin and stilleto shapes, too.
As expected, fans instantly fell in love with Eunkyung’s Mickey Mouse nails, leaving comments like, “You are the Best!!! 🎉🙏✨ Tnx for share it!!! Please keep doing it🙏❤️🙌,” “So cuteeeeee✨✨✨,” and “I love this nail shape. Again a new trend @nail_unistella ♥️♥️.”
For those unfamiliar with the trendsetting South Korean manicurist, she’s amassed a massive following in the last few years and now has nearly 400,000 followers on Instagram, as well as her fair share of celebrity clients.
Congrats to Eunkyung for kicking off 2020 with a unique new nail trend. Now, here’s hoping that more manicurists follow in her footsteps and start trying more exciting nail shapes, too.
